A huge thank you to all that participated in and fundraised for the 2017 Annual Prevent Cancer 5K!
The 5K may be over, but the fight against cancer is still on!
Here are some tips for preventing cancer from Harvard Medical School:
- Avoid tobacco
- Eat properly.
- Exercise regularly.
- Stay lean.
- If you choose to drink, limit yourself to one to two drinks a day.
- Avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.
- Avoid exposure to industrial and environmental toxins
- Avoid infections that contribute to cancer
- Consider taking low-dose aspirin.
- Get enough vitamin D.
And, as always, wear your sunscreen…
…and get your mammograms and perform your BSEs.
In the meantime, be sure to fight cancer by donating to your favorite non-profit, such as the Prevent Cancer Foundation or The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Volunteering with a local cancer prevention, awareness, or caretaking organization, and Taking care of yourself, your friends, and your family by spreading awareness about cancer risking and cancer preventing behaviors.
