I had so much fun with these girls yesterday! One of the things that struck me most from our talks was how many said their favorite subject was science or math.
The National Girls Collaborative Project finds that K-12 female students achievement on math and science standardized tests is on par with their male peers’ test scores, and female students participate in high level maths and science courses at similar rates as their male peers. Yet, this all changes at college and in the workforce, especially in Computer Science (my field), Engineering, and Physics fields.
Young girls’ love for STEM starts early on, but many are discouraged from continuing this love after high school graduation. STEM fields have some of the best job opportunities and wages, and are great opportunities for intellectual growth and satisfaction. I encourage you to talk to the young girls in your life about STEM, and my message box is always open if she (or you) have any questions!

These Art Technically dinosaur activity kits went to the Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital this morning! Each kit had a dinosaur plushie, book, coloring book, and stickers.
Miss United States Interview
Yesterday, I interviewed for my dream job: Miss United States. We talked about my work with Art Technically, bringing STEM and Arts Education to disadvantaged K-12 students through book and toy donations and arts and sciences workshops!
$1,900 Raised for St. Jude – Rugged Maniac New England
Yesterday I volunteered with St. Jude Children’s Hospital collecting donations at the Rugged Maniac Obstacle Run in Massachusetts! I collected $1,900 worth of donations in my bucket from the hundreds of participating runners.
