Over 2,000 Valentine’s Day cards #MadeWithCode by students went to home-bound and disadvantaged seniors for Valentine’s Day! Each card was created in a Creative Coding workshop for K-12 students held by Art Technically that teaches students basic Computer Science principles through an art-based coding platform and gives students an opportunity to participate in a service project to help brighten seniors’ Valentine’s Days. I started doing this project, called ‘Love Letters’, back in 2016. In 2016, as Miss Tipton County’s Outstanding Teen (part of Miss America’s teen program), I delivered 300 Valentine’s Day to the Memphis Interfaith Association’s Meals on Wheels program. This year, Love Letters returned to MIFA’s Meals on Wheels program with 1,800 Valentine’s Day cards for their seniors! I’m still a Miss America titleholder, now Miss Franklin County, and I’m so grateful that Miss America has given me the skills and the platform to continue to make a lasting difference in my community. As Miss Franklin County, I also delivered 300 Valentine’s Day cards to the Kiwanis Club of Franklin County which they’ll distribute to local seniors in need.
